Frank the Entertainer2A journey for love Frank the Entertainer in the series premiere Basement Affair. A journey of  love Frank Maresca in reality show and his own place Sunday on the series premiere of  “Frank the Entertainer in a Basement Affair.” The VH1 reality show follows Frank as he searches for his perfect woman among 15 contestants, all while they try to survive living with his mother and father in his childhood home.

Those of you who are as obsessed with VH1 reality shows as I am will recognize the loveable New Yorker from previous shows “I Love New York,” “I Love Money” and “I Love Money 2.” Since not one of those adventerous worked out for Frank, he asked VH1 to give him his own dating show, helping him find his perfect match and his perfect way out of his parents’ basement.

For those of you who don’t know Frank, well, I can probably sum him up in one sentence: A 31-year-old man who still lives in his parents’ basement. His parents say they’ve tried over and over and over again to get Frank out of the house, but he just won’t budge because he feels he has everything he needs in that house. Plus, his mom still does his laundry!

Frank’s parents, thankfully, are a huge part of the show. The show is completely worth watching just for the interaction between he and his parents. They’re hysterical and adorable and exactly the people you want to watch on television. They will also be very helpful in finding the perfect woman for their son.

On the premiere episode the 15 contenders met Frank and his parents, Susan and Gary, and moved in to the family’s home. This may sound akward and cramped… and it absolutely is! But these women don’t care because they just can’t get enough of Frank the Entertainer! You would’ve thought Elvis had walked in the room with all the screaming that occured when Frank walked upstairs in to the living room to first meet the women.

As with most VH1 shows, one of the top priorities was taking a photograph. These photos weren’t the skanky shots you see on “Rock of Love.” Instead, Frank, Susan and Gary took sweet family photos with each girl. It gave Frank the chance to see how the couple would look together, and it gave Frank’s mother the chance to start hating each girl for a different reason. Mandy was the first to rub Susan the wrong way when she told Susan she would be lucky if she (Mandy) married her son. Too bad for Susan that Frank was all about Mandy. Mandy continued to get under Susan’s skin when she started talking about how her dads think she is a lesbian and if she hears Susan and Gary in the middle of the night she is going to be uncomfortable in the house. Honeslty, though, I don’t think it was necessarily what she said but how she said it that made Susan declare to the camera that Mandy would never marry her son. She tried to make up for it later by cleaning up the food after the mixer, but I think she was way overdoing it.

I think my favorite part of the premiere episode was Frank’s conversation with Stephanie, who is a model, during the mixer. Frank was stumping her left and right with questions about himself, easy questions, like how did he get eliminated from “I Love New York.” She claimed no one could’ve answered the questions he was asking her. She just kept saying she knows they have a lot in common and is looking for love just like him. Doubtful!
