Craigslist Dad Says it Was All A Joke

Craigslist Dad says ad was all in fun. Joshua Stagnitto, 24, a Brockport, N.Y. man, or idiot, as the case may be, is charged with “Falsely Reporting an Incident”, after placing his two children up for sale on Craigslist.

Here is what happened:

Stagnitto thought it would be funny if he placed an ad on the website, offering his one and two year old children for sale. The ad stated “they could be used as slaves, or foot stools”. In an interview with CNN, Stagnitto stated “. ”I thought it would be it would be funny if I put my kids on there because how more ridiculous can you possibly get,”.

Apparently, someone didn’t get the joke, and turned him in to Childrens’ Services, who have charged him with one count of falsely reporting an incident in the third degree. He is facing a $1000 fine, and up to six months in jail.

That’ll teach him. I mean, I think we have all had moments when we would GIVE our kids away, but to post something that asinine on a public website is just plain ignorant. Personally, I think he should be given community service working with abused/neglected children.

While this is not the dumbest ad to hit Craigslist, it is in the top ten, definitely. Craigslist has been hit in the past year with a number of robberies and rapes following ads placed. There was an incident in April of this year in which a man posted a peronal ad, posing as his neighbor, whom he was angry with, advertising the desire for a “Soccer Mom Orgy”. The ad listed the woman’s address, and was only removed after numerous men showed up at her door, ready to may her “fantasy” a reality. Scary Stuff.
