David Patten. The Patriots (team stats) went back in time a bit today, signing wide receiver David Patten to a contract. Patten played for the Pats from 2001-2004.
Patten, 35, won three Super Bowls with the Patriots.
Patten played in 54 regular-season games for the Pats, starting 44 of them. He caught 165 passes for 2,513 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also played in six playoff games, catching 15 passes, including two touchdowns.
Patten’s best season was 2004 when he caught seven touchdowns and accounted for 800 yards receiving.
The 5-foot-11, 190-pounder is a veteran of 12 seasons. He didn’t play in 2009, as he was a late cut by the Cleveland Browns and former Pats assistant Eric Mangini. Most recently, he played for the New Orleans Saints, making 11 catches for 162 yards in five games in 2008, while battling a groin injury.
